Windblown/Fallen
Windblown/Fallen; R Williamson, acrylic on canvas over panel, 32” x 40”; 3/25
A starkly simple composition, ‘Windblown/Fallen’, utilizes a stylized section of a fallen tree. The root ball that it took with it as it fell is left as a reddish brown muff around the trunk with the deep blue hole shifting into a blue green dry brushed background. A paper wasp busies itself building a new nest that seems to hang from the top edge of the painting, in a scale completely at odds with the tree below.
Currently on view at my show in Mount Vernon, WA at Perry + Carlson. So far the painting itself has eluded any comments or notice, but I like what it adds to the overall grouping.
