Salty Dog Solstice Raku Firing 2025

The Salty Dog ceramicists, all powerful rulers of the our collective studio building, will be doing what has become an annual solstice event this coming Saturday. That is the annual Solstice Raku firing. Typically there are some bisque fired pieces available to glaze for those who attend, on a first come first serve basis. Firing happens in the alley behind the building in small portable kilns, containing into the evening until all has been fired. When the weather cooperates it makes for a magic scene after dark each time the kilns get opened to expose the hot glowing objects inside.
