Hanalei Surf School
Hanalei Surf School; R Williamson, acrylic and watercolor on paper; 22” x 30”, 8/25
Based on a typical quick line sketch that I made early in the year, I did this as a simple experiment to see if I could transform the composition into a full-on painting. Doing it on paper allowed me to approach it more casually. I found the results encouraging and the process was enjoyable.
The bay at Hanalei, on the island of Kauai, is extremely shallow for quite a ways out. Barely a bathtubs depth of water and so a good place for an extremely gentle introduction to surfing, when the weather is calm.
Size is 22” wide x 30” high including a white margin of about 1.5” all around. Signed in the bottom right margin (not shown in this pic).
Currently available on my Saatchi Gallery page.
