Salmon Stump (in crate)
Salmon Stump (with Moss) in shipping crate; R Williamson; wood scrap, acrylic;ic, plywood; 2/26
From my most recent coffee house show, ‘Salmon Stump (with Moss)’, is now headed out its new home in Denver, Colorado. I’ve rarely had a buyer quite so excited as the one who purchased this as a gift for her daughter. Always gratifying.
As I usually do when crating things for shipping, I gave the inside back panel a bit of a white wash, just to make the initial opening reveal a bit more dramatic for the recipient. Total weight of the final sealed crate was almost exactly 40 lbs. This proves to be a good size and weight for easy shipping. I’m getting the hang of making strong but light crates now, finally.
Shown here in an air crate, where the artwork is mounted to the back panel with wood screws that keep it in position within the sides of the crate so that it doesn’t get damaged from any of the jostling that inevitably happens in transit.
