Random Scraps

Decaying Stump (confetti); R Williamson, wood scraps/plywood, acrylic/brass brads, 36” wide x 48” tall, 5/22

I just hung a small impromptu show at one of my favorite haunts, Lighthouse Roasters in the neighborhood of upper Fremont. Seems that someone who was otherwise scheduled for April couldn’t make it so the slot was offered to me. I have often shown there but since this wasn’t on my radar it was a last minute scramble. Currently only 6 pieces are there but more might arrive (and leave) throughout the month.

Map of a Cosmos; (detail), R Williamson; watercolor, gouache, and ink on paper, 22” x 28”, 4/24

Nothing really holds these pieces all together although a preponderance of bees seems like the closeting to a thread. Mostly I sought to show a variety of mediums and approaches, which is something that appeals to me.

Journal Entry 1 (pond); (detail), R Williamson, acrylic and china marker on glass, 24” x 32”, 2/24

The Stump piece has been shown before but the others along the main wall are all being exhibited for the first time. A few are new and just completed, and several have been kicking around the studio for some years.

The Search for a Queen; (detail),; R Williamson, acrylic on canvas, 22” x 32”, 4/22

Represented are works on paper, canvas, glass and wood. Mostly showing some details in these snapshots taken in the studio before hanging. The show will remain on display through April 30 and is likely to have a few small sized additions and possibly some piece swapped out before the end. Until next year this is the only chance that I have on the books to get a public reaction to new paintings.
