Afro Ikat - wall pattern design

Afro Ikat (dk blue/olive) - home office mock-up; R Williamson; 12/23

Showing here a recent pattern design for a wall covering project. The home office photo is rough mock-up of one of the color ways. The pattern itself is based loosely on some textiles that I saw this winter that were woven by the Baoulé people of the Ivory Coast.

I’ve read it described loosely as an ikat textile, where the yarn threads are resist dyed first before stretching on the loom. The actual cotton cloths had many more pinstripes and the colored chunks had gradated transitions, which are one of the signature of ikat technique.

Afro Ikat (red/orange/khaki) - pattern color way ; R Williamson; 12/23

Shown above and below, another two of the five total color ways of this pattern, all of which feature bold colors and strong contrasts. Probably most suitable for an accent wall, home office, corridor, or powder room. Available soon.
